BEAUTIFUL CARD DESIGN USING VELLUM CARD STOCK

While searching for new ideas on YOUTUBE, I came across a card made by Robin Cardon of MY PINK STAMPER that had a unique way of using vellum card stock.  I can't remember the stamp set she used but I loved the basic design so I ran with it.  I used the beautiful FINE ART FLORAL SUITE for my first sample.

1)For the card stock portion of your card, cut a piece of NIGHT OF NAVY at 5-1/4in by 5-3/4in.  Score at 1in on the SHORT SIDE.  Then cut a panel of the VELLUM CARDSTOCK at 4-1/4in at 5-1/2in.  Crease the score line of your cardstock.  This will be the back panel and the “hinge” of the card.  Put adhesive on the inside of the “hinge” slide in the VELLUM panel until if lines up with the back panel and fold down the NIGHT OF NAVY card stock.  This is the card base for your card and can be replicated in any color to match any DSP.

2)Next cut two pieces of the coordinating DSP. One at 3-7/8in by 2-7/8in and one at 1in by 5-1/2in.  Adhere the strip to the inside of the card base at the far-right edge.  Next cut two pieces of card stock at 3in by 4in.  One in BASIC WHITE for the inside and one in a color that coordinates with the DSP.  I chose SO SAFFRON.

3)Layer the DSP on the colored card stock and adhere that panel to the front of the card, putting adhesive on the left edge of the panel only and adhering it to the edge of the “hinge”.

4)Carefully adhere the BASIC WHITE panel onthe inside of the card.  Be sure it lines up with the panel on the card front so it can’t be seen when the card is closed.

5)To create the flower for the front of the card, I stamped the background flower image in CALYPSO CORAL, being sure to stamp of before stamping on the BASIC WHITE scrap paper.  I then stamped the detail flower image in CALYPSO CORAL at full strength.  The stem and leaf image was stamped in MOSSY MEADOW ink.  I then used the coordinating dies to cut out the images and adhered them to the front of the card as shown.

6) I used the “Happy Birthday” image, stamped it on BASIC WHITE using NIGHT OF NAVY ink and cut it out in the cute little scalloped rectangle die.  I then adhered it at the base of the stem as shown above.  The video below shows how the card came together and includes these other samples I made.
