So Much Love for Valentines Day

When I was a child, Valentines Day was a big deal for me.  A lot of time was spent carefully creating my mailbox using an old shoe box with construction paper, stickers and doilies.  Mom and I would go to the store and I would pick out my valentine cards for my classmates.  It was such fun to send the cards to everyone.  As an adult, I have tried to continue the tradition, sending valentines to very special friends in my life.  Some years I have been better at getting them out than others but I 've always felt that it is important to let your friends know how much they mean to you.  It is easy to get busy with life and lose touch with friends.  Valentines Day gives me a chance to reconnect.

The SENDING LOVE SUITE in the new OCCASIONS CATALOG by Stampin Up is a wonderful collection of products to help you get started on your valentines.  (page 14 and 15 in OC)

My first card was a CASE card of the one above.  I love using the SOFT SKY card stock to sent off all the other elements.  I used gold embossing powder for the sentiment.  After a few personal touches, this is what I came up with.  I love the heart edgelit that gives the card a cool 3d effect.

I have to admit, the first framelits that caught my eye with the mini note and envelope die.  What a fun way to write special notes for lunch boxes on Valentines Day or all year long.  My daughters are now college-age so I thought it would be fun to send them a card instead.  Here is my creation.

I used the beautiful SENDING LOVE Designer Series Paper Pack to make the envelopes and stamped little messages on the removable mini-notes.  I put some silver foil paper behind the notes to set them off a bit.  I LOVE IT.  So fun and easy with this wonderful suite.  The next card combines the beautiful DSP and the wonderful edgelit die.

Starting with a BASIC BLACK card base makes the element of the card really POP.  After cutting the edge of the card with the heart edgelit, I cut out six hearts, using the framelit die, and adhered them to the 3D black hearts for a bigger effect.  I also used the SCALLOPED SQUARE from the LAYER SQUARES FRAMELIT SET.  I adhered the envelope and mini-note to the card front, allowing the note to stand out a bit so the sentiment could be read.  So cute.  There are so many different choices you could use from the SENDING LOVE DSP STACK that would work just as well on this card front.  That's the magic of  STAMPIN' UP.

Valentines Day is just not complete without CHOCOLATE.  I knew I had to make some cute treat holders to give to my students and friends.  The first box was inspired by POOTLES.  Thank you Sam for all your inspiration.  It's from her Advent Countdown 2016 #23.  It holds four mini Ghirardelli chocolates.  Really fun and easy to make.
