I was inspired by a project Linda Parker, a UK demonstrator made but I didn't have the necessary 12X12 card stock to complete the project so I changed it up a bit. Here's what I came up with.
Here's a written tutorial:
1. Cut a piece of TRANQUIL TIDE card
stock to 8 in X 11 in. While in the
landscape position on the SCORING BOARD, score at 1 ½ in, 4 ¾ in, 6 ¼ in, 9 ½
in. Turn the paper and on the short side
score at 1 ½ in and 6 ½ in.
2. Holding the paper in landscape
position, cut on the four vertical score lines up to the first horizontal score
line. Do the same on the top. Using your PAPER SNIPS, wedge each of the
tabs you made.
3. Lay your box face up on your work
surface. Put two small strips of TEAR N
TAPE on each tab. Using your bone
folder, crease all the score lines on your box.
4. Decide which side of the box will be
your bottom. Line up and attach four
tabs to that side. The other side is the
lid, attach the two tabs to that one.
5. Cut your piece of Designer Series
Paper to 4 ¾ in X 11 in. Carefully wrap
the paper around the box, creasing at the corners. Attach the ends together on the bottom using
TEAR N TAPE. Cut our four circles using
the 1 3/8 in CIRCLE PUNCH. Cut each
circle in half, fold in half and attach them to the suitcase as shown in the
picture using TOMBOW ADHESIVE.
6. For the suitcase handle, cut a piece
of TRANQUIL TIDE card stock at 5 ¾ in X 1 ½ in.
On the long side score at ¾ in and 1 ½ in from both sides, short side
score at ¾ in. Fold on that score line
and glue the layers together using TOMBOW ADHESIVE. Fold on the remaining score lines and adhere
the handle to the top of the box using TOMBOW.
Adhere the buttons as shown in the picture.
7. On a scrap piece of VERY VANILLA card
stock, stamp the LOOKIN’ SHARP image from the TRULY TAILORED stamp set using
NIGHT OF NAVY ink. Using the TAILORED TAG PUNCH, cut out the image as well as a diamond shape out of a piece of NIGHT OF
NAVY card stock. Using your PAPER SNIPS,
cut off the VERY VANILLA border on the stamped image and adhere it to the NIGHT
OF NAVY diamond. Adhere it to the front
of the suitcase using STAMPIN DIMENSIONALS.
8. Lastly, stamp the HOPING YOUR
BIRTHDAY…. sentiment on a VERY VANILLA paper strip that is 3 in X 7/8 in. With a hole punch, punch a hole in the left
end of the rectangle, using your PAPER SNIPS to cut the corners off the end as
shown in the picture. Thread a piece of
CRUMB CAKE baker’s twine through the hole and tie the tag to the handle of your
suit case.
What a fun project! I'm such a sucker for a 3-D item. Looks so amazing, comes together so easily Hope you are inspired to try it for yourself. Great for Father's Day or a birthday for a special guy in your life.
