Join me for a TROPICAL ESCAPE

I've always LOVED the beach.  Being a red head, I really didn't go for the tan, I went for the beauty and peacefulness it had to offer.  Our family beach trips have always been filled with a lot of fun and laughter but I looked forward to the chance to disconnect, reflect and re-energize just as much.  When I saw the amazing TROPICAL ESCAPE BUNDLE in the new Stampin Up Annual Catalog, it was love at first sight.  The color palette, the amazing designer series paper and the tropical stamped images and framelits had my mind racing and my creativity ignited.

Here are a few of my favorite samples, straight from my craft room.

For this card, I used a Whisper White card base and card front with layers of Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce card stock to set off the images.  Across the center of the card I put two 1 inch by 4 inch pieces of the Designer Series Paper from the suite.  On top I placed a 2 1/8 inch circle, cut out using the LAYERING CIRCLE FRAMELITS.  I then stamped all my images on a scrap of Whisper White card stock.  For the broader palm frond, I used Shaded Spruce ink.  For the others, I inked up the palm leaf image with Granny Apple Green ink and using a SPONGE DAUBER, I applied a bit of Shaded Spruce in down the center of the leaf.  For the flowers, I inked up with Powder Pink ink and applied Real Red ink at the center using a SPONGE DAUBER.  All the pieces are then die cut using the coordinating framelits and the BIG SHOT.  The palm leaves were all adhered using TOMBOW LIQUID ADHESIVE and the flowers were put on using DIMENSIONALS.  The THANK YOU sentiment was stamped using BLACK MEMENTO INK.

For this card, I used a Powder Pink card base and stamped the leaves and flowers using POWDER PINK, SHADED SPRUCE and GRANNY APPLE GREEN INK.  The background piece of designer series paper is 3 1/2 in by 5 in and the small strip with the sentiment is 4 1/4 in by 3/4 in.  For this one I used the square framelit to make an interesting focal point.  The card stock I used was the beautiful SOFT SEA FOAM cut at 3 1/4 in by 3 1/4 in.  I place one of identical size behind that piece before adhering it to the card.  I love how it turned out.

This design is very similar but instead I used a contrasting piece of designer series so the beautiful leaves on the framelit would stand out.

Finally, I wanted to change up the color palette a bit and introduced a Crumb Cake card base.  On a 3 3/4 in by 5 1/2 in piece of Whisper White card stock, I randomly stamped the palm leaf image in both GRANNY APPLE GREEN and SHADED SPRUCE.  I then adhered that piece to a 3 7/8 in by 5 1/2 in piece of GRANNY APPLE GREEN card stock before putting it on the card front.  Using the 3 in STITCHED CIRCLE FRAMELIT, I stamped the YOU ARE THE GREATEST image and adhered the palms and flowers as shown.  I finished the design with a bow made out of the Crumb Cake NATURAL TWINE.

I hope this post inspires you to make a few cards yourself.  All the materials I used on this project are available in my online store.  The link is below.
