As a former elementary school teacher, I know how important Valentine's Day is to kids. It's a time to show your friends and loved ones you care but also it's time TO EAT CANDY. When designing my projects, I thought it would be fun to use a couple of the cute animal sets that Stampin' Up has available now. The project above used the HOT DOG stamp set from the new Jan-June Mini Catalog. I grew up with a dachsie around the house and this set really grabbed my heart.
To make the box, I used a piece of MAGENTA MADNESS card stock measuring 6-1/4in by 7-3/4in. On the LONG side, I scored at 3/4in on both ends. On the SHORT side, I scored at 3/4in, 2-3/4in, 3-1/2in and 5-1/2in. The DSP panel on the front and the inside white panel is cut at 6in by 1-3/4in. I used the SOFT SUEDE BLENDS on the dog and fussy cut him out as well as the speech bubble stamped in MAGENTA MADNESS ink. The adorable XOXO's are dies from the PLAYFUL ALPHABET DIES. Here's a picture of the cut template for this box.
For my second project, I used the adorable DARLING DONKEYS stamp set. Did you know you can get this stamp set for FREE? It's Sale A Bration time and for every $50 you spend of Stampin' Up products, you get a FREE item from the Sale A Bration Brochure. Now that's a Stampin' WIN-WIN. This little donkey looks like quite the character.
This 3D project is a Mug Cake Treat Box. These mug cake mixes are available at any grocery store and different from last year, include icing as well. The design is a slider box, allowing the recipient to slide the treat out of the box using ribbon. I did not include a spoon with the project pictured here but you could always tie a small plastic spoon to the package with the ribbon. There are so many cute images of the donkey. I picked the sitting donkey.
I used a piece of MELON MAMBO card stock cut at 6-1/4in by 9-1/2in. On the LONG side, score at 1/2in, 4-1/2in, 5in and 9in. Score at 1/2in on the SHORT side. DSP from the TRUE LOVE paper stack is cut at 3-3/4in by 5-1/2in. I used the BE MINE HEART DIES for the hearts using REAL RED and HIGHLAND HEATHER card stock. I stamped the donkey image using BLACK MEMENTO INK and colored him in using GRAY GRANITE BLENDS. For the sentiment, I stamped using MELON MAMBO INK, and cut it out of the BASIC WHITE card stock using a 1-3/8in circle die. Below is the cut template for the donkey box.
These last two projects are super quick to put together and perfect for classroom valentine gifts. For both of these projects, I used the STITCHED BE MINE dies and the A BANNER YEAR stamp set.
First, I created the AIRHEADS Treat Box. To make these, you will need the ACETATE CARD BOX (144628) available in the 2020-21 Annual Catalog.
Using the Stampin' Up PAPER TRIMMER, cut the acetate box in half the long way. Then cut a piece of MAGENTA MADNESS card stock at 4-3/8in by 5in. Score at 3in and 3-1/2in on the LONG side. I used the INCOLOR 6X6 PAPER STACK for the front panel, cutting a piece of the MAGENTA MADNESS colored pattern at 4-1/4in by 1-1/4in. The twine I used to tie the flap down is the BLACK AND WHITE BAKER'S TWINE from the PAMPERED PETS SUITE.
Finally, here's a quick Valentine Lollipop Cover. I used Sweet Tart lollipops but you can use anything that's the same size. I used the same products as I used for the AIRHEADS Treat Box.
I started with a piece of LOVELY LIPSTICK card stock cut at 2-5/8in by 5-1/2in. Score the LONG side at 2-1/2in from both ends. Place a lollipop inside, punch holes on each side of the stick and thread the black and white baker's twine through the card stock and lollipop wrapper. The hearts were die cut using the STITCHED BE MINE DIES. I used LOVELY LIPSTICK and REAL RED card stock. Sentiment is from A BANNER YEAR stamp set.
