Christmas is just around the corner and this project is great to have for those last minute unexpected visitors. This cute Christmas tree treat box ornament holds chocolate kisses and can be pulled off the tree and given away during the holidays. It can also be given to friends and coworkers as a special treat to hang on there own trees. I chose the GRANNY APPLE GREEN and POLISHED PINK color palate and not more traditional colors to make it stand out and get noticed. You'll be excited to see how easy it is to make these ornaments.
Other than the gorgeous GRANNY APPLE GREEN card stock, I used POLISHED PINK OPEN WEAVE RIBBON and 2020-2022 IN COLOR SQUARE GEMS to decorate this project. You can also add a tag if you like.
Start with a piece of GRANNY APPLE GREEN card stock cut at 10-1/2in by 7in. On the LONG SIDE score at 3/4in, 4in, 6-1/2in and 9-3/4in. On the SHORT SIDE, score at 3in and 4in. Next, staying on the SHORT SIDE, score at 2-1/2 and 4-1/2in from both ends, scoring to the first horizontal score line.
Turning your paper to the LONG SIDE, using a pencil, put a tick mark 5-1/4in on both LONG SIDES. Next, using a ruler, draw a line from that tick mark to the outside corners, forming a triangle. The template below shows how the paper looks after you cut away excess card stock. I also used the TRIO PUNCH to round the panels on both ends.
To dress up the front, create four 1-1/4in GRANNY APPLE GREEN card stock strips that have stitched edges by using the LAYERED RECTANGLE DIES. This will give the tree some pretty details. Layer the strips on the front of the tree and cut off the excess on the sides. Lastly, add some POLISHED PINK SQUARE GEMS as ornaments. Add the kisses, close up the ornament and add a bow to hold it closed.
You can also add a tag. I punched out a piece of BASIC WHITE card stock with my 1IN CIRCLE PUNCH, added a sentiment, punched a hole and strung it on the ribbon. Click the link below to see how the ornament comes together.
