Happy March Stampers!!!!! Spring is on the way and that means warm weather and thoughts of the beach. The BY THE BAY SUITE in the 2023 Jan-April Mini Catalog is so beautiful. My series will continue through the month of March and I will share a card and a 3D project each week.
The card for this week, shown above, is one of my favorites. I just love the use of the weathered wood DSP as a picture frame.
Start with a piece of CRUMB CAKE card stock cut at 5-1/2in by 8-1/2in scored at 4-1/4in for the card base. Adhere the landscape design DSP panel, cut at 5-1/2in by 4-1/4in to the card front.
For the frame, cut out 4 3/4in strips, two cut at 5-1/2in and two cut at 4-1/4in. To create the diagonals, measure 3/4in on the inside of both ends of the shorter strips. Cut the diagonal from that point to the outside corner. To create a more weathered look, use a BLENDING BRUSH and some CRUMB CAKE INK to add color to the edges of the strips. Adhere the strips around the edge of the card front.
For the scene on the card, die cut two large seagrass and one small using MINT MACARON card stock. Use the coordinating die to die cut a sandpiper image from the DSP. For the two shells, die cut using the pearlized paper to add some interest. Adhere seagrass and shells directly to the card front and place the sand piper on with DIMENSIONALS.
For the sentiment, I cut a 3/4in strip of BASIC WHITE and stamp the "thank you" sentiment using NIGHT OF NAVY INK. Add to the card front with DIMENSIONALS.
The 3D project for this week was inspired by the tag created in the 2023 Jan-April Mini Catalog. This open topped box holds a cello bag of chocolates.
Start with a piece of NIGHT OF NAVY card stock cut at 6-1/2in by 9-1/2in. On the LONG side, score at 3in, 4-1/2in, 7-1/2in and 9in. On the SHORT side, score at 1-1/2in. Fold and crease on all the score lines. With the card stock in the landscape position cut up each of the vertical score lines to the first horizontal. Cut away the 1/2in panel at the horizontal score line. Apply adhesive to the remaining 1/2in panel and the bottom flaps and assemble the box.
For the box front, cut a piece of BALMY BLUE card stock cut at 2in by 4-1/4in. Stamp the "pearl" sentiment at the top center of the panel using NIGHT OF NAVY INK. Adhere to the box front with the bottom edge of the panel along the bottom of the box.
Next, cut a strip of CRUMB CAKE card stock at 3in by 1-1/2in for the sand. Use the landscape die to cut the top of the strip, then stamp the speckles on the strip using CRUMB CAKE INK. Adhere to the bottom of the box over the BALMY BLUE panel.
For the items in the beach scene, "fussy cut" three clam shells and a conch shell. Die cut two large and two small seagrass using MINT MACARON card stock. Lastly, die cut an oyster using CRUMB CAKE card stock. Using the BLENDER BRUSH and some CRUMB CAKE INK, apply some ink along the edges of the oyster to give it some dimension and texture. Now add these items to the box, starting with the clam shells on DIMENSIONALS, tuck the seagrass behind and layer the conch shell and oyster on top.
For the treats in the cello bag, I purchased some GUYLIAN SEA SHELL CHOCOLATES at Boscov's, a local department store but they are available on Amazon. Aren't they beautiful?
I filled the cello bag and tied it closed with the beautiful BALMY BLUE & WHITE 1/2IN VARIEGATED RIBBON from the suite.
