Fun at the Lake....Lilypad Lake That is.

August is here and it's a HOT and HUMID one in Pennsylvania.  Lately it's been very rainy and we have had flood warnings for two weeks now.  Today is no different so my thoughts go to more beautiful summer weather.  Somewhere near water perhaps?  Thank goodness for Stampin' Ups new LILYPAD LAKE BUNDLE.  This beautiful images of herons, lily pads, sun and surf and the inspiring sentiments make this a perfect bundle for all my crafty stamper peeps.

This bundle is the one I chose for this month's Stamp of the Month Club class at my craft studio.  This set makes it easy to make a beautiful serene card for that special someone.  Here are a few of my samples.

For this card, I used POOL PARTY CARDSTOCK for my card base.  For the card front, I cut a 4in by 5 1/4in piece of SAHARA SAND CARDSTOCK and adhered a 3 3/4in by 5in piece of POOL PARTY CARDSTOCK that was embossed using the SIMPLE STRIPES EMBOSSING FOLDER. For the focal point, I first used a WHISPER WHITE STITCHED SQUARE cut from the STITCHED SHAPE FRAMELITS and with an AQUA PAINTER, I swished some POOL PARTY INK across the center.  Boats and sun where stamped on WHISPER WHITE CARDSTOCK, using MEMENTO INK.  I cut them out using the amazing BIG SHOT die cut machine and colored them using the STAMPIN BLENDS, DAFFODIL DELIGHT, CHERRY COBBLER and SMOKY SLATE for the boats and DAFFODIL DELIGHT and PUMPKIN PIE for the sun.  To add a little interest, I cut out the larger banner that came with the bundle and placed them behind the stitched square.  I stamped the THINKING OF YOU sentiment on WHISPER WHITE and cut that out with the smaller banner framelit.  Using the LINEN THREAD, I tied a bow to the left.  I adhered the card front to the card base using STAMPIN UP DIMENSIONALS.

This card may be my favorite.  So fun and easy to put together.  My card base is BALMY BLUE, one of Stampin' Up new colors.  I also included a 4in by 5 1/4in piece of BLUEBERRY BUSHEL and a 3 3/4in by 5in piece of SAHARA SAND.  On a piece of WHISPER WHITE CARDSTOCK, I stamped the heron and two lily pad images using MEMENTO INK and cut them out using the coordinating framelits.  I used RICH RAZZLEBERRY and OLD OLIVE BLENDS on the lily pads.  For the heron, I first colored him in using the LIGHT SMOKY SLATE BLEND, then took away color using the COLOR LIFTER.  I liked how it turned out, just plain white wasn't working for me.  For the background piece, I used a 2 1/2in circle cut from the LAYERING CIRCLE FRAMELITS.  Using the water image, I stamped the lower half of the circle using BLUEBERRY BUSHEL INK, then without inking back up, stamped again above it with a little overlap.  Then I used BALMY BLUE INK and did the same thing, starting at the center of the circle, overlapping with the other waves a bit and working my way up to the top of the circle.  If you would like the images to be a little more muted you can go over the entire circle using an AQUA PAINTER after you finish stamping.  It's all good!!  I adhered the circle to the card front using TOMBOW LIQUID GLUE and placed the heron and lily pads using DIMENSIONALS.  I used LINEN THREAD for the bow in the top corner.  The sentiment was stamped using MEMENTO INK.  Such a sweet and serene card to send to a special friend.

My last sample is a cute pocket card.  It fits easily in a regular envelope and has a nice masculine look to it for those special guys that may need some encouragement.  The pocket begins with a 9in by 6in piece of BALMY BLUE CARDSTOCK.  Before scoring, I randomly stamped the boat image all over.  I then scored, using the SIMPLY SCORED SCORING TOOL on the long side at 4 1/4in and  8 1/2in and on the short side at 1/2 in.  The assembly and the stamping is shown in the video tutorial below.
