Countdown To Christmas- Week 2 Cocoa Treat Pouch

Hi Stampers and welcome back to my Countdown to Christmas series.  It's Week 2 and time for a fun project, inexpensive to make and fun for all ages.  The weather here in Pennsylvania has definitely changed and sweaters and warm drinks are always on our minds.  Today's project was inspired by Julie Dimattio, the Paper Pixie.  I used her basic pouch construction but made some adjustments for the design.

For the pouch, start with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock measuring 5 1/2in by 8 1/2in, scored at 4 1/4 in on the 8 1/2 in side.  Along the 5 1/2 in side, make a tick mark at 2 3/4in and then cut from the tick mark to where the center score line meets the top edge. Put a piece of TEAR & TAPE adhesive along the bottom edge of the uncut side and close the pouch closed.  For the paper on the front, cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock at 4in by 5 1/8in.  Again make a tick mark along the 5 1/8in side and with the tick mark along the right side, cut from the tick mark to the opposite left corner.  Your card stock should fit on the front pocket with a 1/8in border of Crumb Cake around the edge.  Before adhering it, take the BUFFALO CHECK BACKGROUND STAMP and stamp it on the Cherry Cobbler piece using MEMENTO INK. I recommend using the STAMPARATUS for stamping this and any other background stamp.  It allows you to go back and reink if necessary without the fear of the image not lining up. After stamping, adhere the buffalo check piece to the front of the pouch using TOMBOW adhesive.  Next, secure the pouch by punching two holes about 1/4 in apart where the top of the pocket overlaps the back of the pouch.  Using BLACK BAKER'S TWINE, tie the treat tube to the cardstock.   Double the twine by making a loop and tied a bow on the front of the tube.  The treat tubes and dehydrated marshmallows are available on AMAZON.  To make the sentiment, I punched out a WHISPER WHITE circle using the 2in CIRCLE PUNCH and BASIC BLACK starburst using the STARBURST PUNCH.  These are two of my favorite punches because they are a perfect pair for cards and projects.

For a final embellishment, I used the pine sprig from the PRETTY PINES thinlits, available in the Annual Catalog.  I cut out two sprigs using TRANQUIL TIDE card stock and adhered them to the back of my sentiment before adhering it to the pouch front using DIMENSIONALS.  Then tuck your pack of hot cocoa in the pouch and you're all done.  I used Swiss Miss but any brand will work.  Below is my FB LIVE video for Week 2

4 WEEK OF HALLOWEEN WEEK #4- TINY TREAT BOXES

Halloween is just six weeks away!!  Time is flying and those trick or treaters will be knocking at your door before you know it.  This blog post is my last in my 4 WEEKS OF HALLOWEEN Series.  I think next year I may have to extend it to 6 or 8 weeks.  Stampin' Up offers so many amazing products for this time of year, I couldn't share them all in just 4 weeks.  Our project this week uses the CLEAR TINY TREAT BOXES (141699).  We use the TOIL & TROUBLE SUITE again to do all the embellishing.

For the contents of the box, I used Hershey Miniatures, and wrapped them with the TOIL & TROUBLE DESIGNER SERIES PAPER. I used a 1 3/8 in by 2 1/2 in strip of DSP and attached it using GLUE DOTS.  You can fit about eight candies in the box.  I then tied up the box using the BLACK GLITTERED ORGANDY RIBBON.  Love the sparkle!!  For the tags, first I punched out a Whisper White card stock circle using the 2in CIRCLE PUNCH.  Using LEMON-LIME TWIST INK, I randomly stamped the tiny star images all over the circle.  With the STARBURST PUNCH, I punched a scalloped circle using PUMPKIN PIE cardstock.  Then I took my SNAIL ADHESIVE and layered them together.  For the front of the tag, I used the CAULDRON FRAMELITS and cut out the spider web using BASIC BLACK card stock.  I cut the witch's hat and the cat out of the DSP using the framelits.  I love that option.  If I'm in a rush I can use these images instead of stamping and coloring then cutting them out.  Then I simply layered them on the tag using TOMBOW ADHESIVE and DIMENSIONALS.   Using a 2in by 1/2in piece of Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the “Happy Halloween” sentiment and cut the banner end.  I used a 1/8in punch to stamp through both tags and tied them to the organdy ribbon using BASIC BLACK BAKER’S TWINE.

This is such a quick and easy project, making it easy to make multiples for all those trick or treaters. The TOIL & TROUBLE BUNDLE has so many possibilities.

Pretty Kitty Note Cards and Box- The Purrrrr-fect Gift

It's no secret I love cats.  My cat Miles is such a blessing to me.  He is such a loving cuddly boy, I can't imagine our home without him.  I had always been a dog person until one night, out of the blue, my daughter calls from college to tell me that she had found a litter of kittens under the steps at her dorm.  She was keeping one male kitten in the closet in her dorm room and feeding it tuna out of the can.  She was frantic because the RA was forcing her to take it to the animal shelter.  Before I knew it, I was on the road to Susquehanna University to pick up a cat.  I never knew that it would be love at first sight. He has become my crafting buddy.

So when Stampin' Up came out with the PRETTY KITTY stamp set, I was very excited.  I had just gotten the fabulous STAMPIN' BLENDS alcohol markers so I know my coloring would look flawless and vibrant.  With five adorable cat images, the first thing that came to mind was a set of note cards.

 Five different cat images meant five different cards in the set.  The sentiments made it easy to make the notecards for a variety of occasions.  Here are my samples. One is for a birthday.

One for encouragement.

One for friendship.

One to say "hello."

And one to say "sorry."

All five cards use the same colors and design but could easily be changed to suit your personality.  I used a POOL PARTY card base and a 2 in by 4 in strip of TWINKLE TWINKLE designer series paper to make the banner.  BASIC BLACK BAKER'S TWINE and ARTISAN PEARLS were used for embellishment.  I stamped the cat image in MEMENTO BLACK INK on the largest circle of the STITCHED FRAMELIT DIES. The coordinating NIGHT OF NAVY card stock scallop was cut using the LAYERING SCALLOPS FRAMELIT DIES.  

For coloring the cats, I used the SMOKY SLATE, CRUMB CAKE and BRONZE STAMPIN' BLENDS.  These amazing alcohol based marker blend so beautifully, I feel like an artist. I used OLD OLIVE, CALYPSO CORAL, PINK PIROUETTE, MELON MAMBO and DAFFODIL DELIGHT BLENDS to color the other images.  I adhered the scalloped circle to the card front using STAMPIN' DIMENSIONALS and used a GLUE DOT  to adhere the BASIC BLACK bow.  I fell in love with these cards and immediately thought of a friend who would love them too.  So then it was time to make a gift box for the cards and envelopes.  I pulled out my amazing ENVELOPE PUNCH BOARD. I used a piece of 9 in by 9 in card stock.  On the first side I punched and scored at 3 1/2 in and 4 1/2 in.  Then following the score marks, I punched and scored the remaining three sides.

I used the same designer series paper for the belly band, cutting it into a 2 by 12 in strip.  The circle and scallop used on the front are the same size as the cards.  I used BASIC GRAY card stock for the box and adhered a 5 1/2 in by 4 1/4 in piece of POOL PARTY card stock to the front.

Ten Terrific Halloween Projects- #4

Project #4- Halloween Treat Bag

Today's project is a fun and easy way to make something to hold all those Halloween goodies.

For the treat bag, I used the fabulous SPOOKY NIGHTS DESIGNER SERIES PAPER (144610)129026), and chose the cute little pumpkins for this bag.  I ran it through the BIG SHOT die cut machine (143263) using the MINI TREAT BAG THINLITS (137547).  Using FAST FUSE adhesive (129026), I secured the bag.  I then took a scrap of WHISPER WHITE cardstock (100730) and stamped the "spider web label" image from the SPOOKY CAT stamp set (144749) in ARCHIVAL BLACK INK (140931).  With the TANGERINE TANGO INK (111349) and the "Happy Halloween" sentiment, I stamped in the space at the middle of the label.  I then cut out the label using the oval in the STITCHED SHAPES FRAMELIT set (145372).  I placed a couple of Tangerine Tango BRIGHTS ENAMEL SHAPES (141680) on the label to add interest.  To make the bag's belly band, I cut a piece of the striped DSP at 1 in by 10 in. and wrapped it around the middle of the bag and secured it in the front with FAST FUSE.  Using BLACK BAKER'S TWINE, I wrapped a piece around the bag twice and then tied a bow to the left hand side of the front of the bag.  Finally, I adhered the label to the front of the bag with DIMENSIONALS (104430).  So easy but your little Trick of Treater will love it.
