Halloween Fun Week #2 Hand Sanitizer Holder

August is almost over, the kids are back in school and the world is now focused on Halloween, at least here in York, Pennsylvania.  The excitement and celebration surrounding this holiday compares to that of Christmas.  When I first moved to York, I was a bit confused by all the Halloween celebrations but I've come to enjoy them and look forward to handing out goodies to my friends, students, and neighborhood trick or treaters.  Today's project again uses the adorable yet creepy MONSTER BASH SUITE.  We will be making a hand sanitizer holder for the mini bottles available at Bath & Bodyworks.

In the video below, I make the CREEPY box.  To start I use a piece of BASIC BLACK card stock cut at 2in by 11in.  On the long side, I score at 1/2in, 1-1/2in, 3-1/2in, 4-1/2in, 6-1/2in, 7-1/2in and 8-1/2in.  I use my bone folder and crease all the score lines except the 6-1/2in, I am using that to mark where the flap adheres.  I also have three panels of DSP cut at 1-3/4in by 2-3/4in, 1-3/4in by 2-1/4in, and 1-3/4in by 1-3/4in.  Watch the video to see how easily this project comes together.

Pretty Kitty Note Cards and Box- The Purrrrr-fect Gift

It's no secret I love cats.  My cat Miles is such a blessing to me.  He is such a loving cuddly boy, I can't imagine our home without him.  I had always been a dog person until one night, out of the blue, my daughter calls from college to tell me that she had found a litter of kittens under the steps at her dorm.  She was keeping one male kitten in the closet in her dorm room and feeding it tuna out of the can.  She was frantic because the RA was forcing her to take it to the animal shelter.  Before I knew it, I was on the road to Susquehanna University to pick up a cat.  I never knew that it would be love at first sight. He has become my crafting buddy.

So when Stampin' Up came out with the PRETTY KITTY stamp set, I was very excited.  I had just gotten the fabulous STAMPIN' BLENDS alcohol markers so I know my coloring would look flawless and vibrant.  With five adorable cat images, the first thing that came to mind was a set of note cards.

 Five different cat images meant five different cards in the set.  The sentiments made it easy to make the notecards for a variety of occasions.  Here are my samples. One is for a birthday.

One for encouragement.

One for friendship.

One to say "hello."

And one to say "sorry."

All five cards use the same colors and design but could easily be changed to suit your personality.  I used a POOL PARTY card base and a 2 in by 4 in strip of TWINKLE TWINKLE designer series paper to make the banner.  BASIC BLACK BAKER'S TWINE and ARTISAN PEARLS were used for embellishment.  I stamped the cat image in MEMENTO BLACK INK on the largest circle of the STITCHED FRAMELIT DIES. The coordinating NIGHT OF NAVY card stock scallop was cut using the LAYERING SCALLOPS FRAMELIT DIES.  

For coloring the cats, I used the SMOKY SLATE, CRUMB CAKE and BRONZE STAMPIN' BLENDS.  These amazing alcohol based marker blend so beautifully, I feel like an artist. I used OLD OLIVE, CALYPSO CORAL, PINK PIROUETTE, MELON MAMBO and DAFFODIL DELIGHT BLENDS to color the other images.  I adhered the scalloped circle to the card front using STAMPIN' DIMENSIONALS and used a GLUE DOT  to adhere the BASIC BLACK bow.  I fell in love with these cards and immediately thought of a friend who would love them too.  So then it was time to make a gift box for the cards and envelopes.  I pulled out my amazing ENVELOPE PUNCH BOARD. I used a piece of 9 in by 9 in card stock.  On the first side I punched and scored at 3 1/2 in and 4 1/2 in.  Then following the score marks, I punched and scored the remaining three sides.

I used the same designer series paper for the belly band, cutting it into a 2 by 12 in strip.  The circle and scallop used on the front are the same size as the cards.  I used BASIC GRAY card stock for the box and adhered a 5 1/2 in by 4 1/4 in piece of POOL PARTY card stock to the front.

TEN TERRIFIC HALLOWEEN PROJECTS- PROJECT #2

Project #2 Lollipop Treat Pouch

With Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about treats for all those adorable Trick or Treaters who come by.  The Lollipop Treat Holder is a quick and easy project you can whip up quickly with very few supplies.

You will need a pack of the SPOOKY NIGHT DESIGNER SERIES PAPER (144610).  Cut the DSP into 6 in by 6 in squares.  I used the paper with the polka dots on one side and the cats on the other.  Take the square and fold it in half, point to point, making a triangle.  Now with the triangle point up on your work surface, fold the right side corner across the front of the triangle with its point touching the left side of the triangle.  Be sure you fold across keeping the folded edge parallel to the base of the triangle.  Do the same with the point on the left side.  See pictures below.

Using your BONE FOLDER (102300) firmly crease your folds then fold down the top front point over the other folded edges.  Secure the flap using a MINI GLUE DOT (103683).  Next to decorate the holder, I cut out a pumpkin image from another piece of the SPOOKY NIGHT DESIGNER SERIES PAPER using the BIG SHOT (143263) and LAYERING CIRCLES FRAMELITS (141705). Then using a slightly larger scalloped circle from the framelit set, cut out a scalloped circle using BASIC BLACK CARDSTOCK (121045).  Adhere the pumpkin image to the scallop then both to the front of the treat pouch using SNAIL ADHESIVE (104332).  Using a strip of WHISPER WHITE CARDSTOCK (100730) cut at ½ in by 2 ½ in, stamp the “Trick or Treat” sentiment with CAJUN CRAZE INK (126965).  Cut the ends to make a banner using PAPER SNIPS (103579) then adhere it to the front of the pouch using DIMENSIONALS (104430).

Punch a hole at the center of the bottom using a paper punch.  That is where you push the lollipop stick through.  I used Caramel Apple Lollipops that I purchased at my local grocery store.  Lastly, make a small bow using the BASIC BLACK BAKER’S TWINE (134576) and adhere it to the front of the pouch just above the hole using a MINI GLUE DOT.
