Quick and Adorable Paper Bag Cards featuring the Daisy Punch and Pattern Party DSP

This project was inspired by one of my favorite Stampin' Up demonstrators, Marisa Alvarez, THE KITCHEN TABLE STAMPER.  She always has amazing samples to inspire.  This project caught my eye because it looked so summery and you could really substitute any flower bundle you may have with the same beautiful results.

Start out with a regular lunch bag, not the larger ones.  Before cutting the bag, it measures 11erin by 5in flat.  The first step is to cut off the bottom of the bag.  I set my bag on the trimmer, placing the open end at 9in and cutting. This next step is optional.  You now have a bag with two open ends.  I used a border die and ran both ends through my CUT & EMBOSS MACHINE to give the ends a scalloped look. This die was part of the PEONY DIES set.

I then folded the bag to make the card.  I did not fold it in half, I folded it so that the card front was about 3/4in shorter than the back.  Finally, I folded back the front to create a 1/2in binding.  I used TEAR & TAPE to secure the binding.  Now it's time to decorate.

For the front and the inside of the card, I used paper from the PATTERN PARTY DSP.  This is an amazing paper deal available only to hosts.  That means you can have a party with friends or you can make a purchase yourself of $150 or more.  There are 48 sheets of paper in this stack. One side is colored and the back is a black and white pattern.

I chose the buffalo check pattern.  The piece on the front measured 3-3/4in by 4-7/8in and the inside piece was 4in by 4-7/8in.  Remember, all lunch bags are not alike so your measurements may be slightly different.  I did used the scallop edge die on these to pieces before adhering them to the card.  I turned the buffalo check piece of DSP over and used the beautiful BUMBLE BEE flower design on the inside of the front cover.  It measured 3-1/4in by 4-7/8in and I scalloped the edge as well. After all the paper was on, I took my adhesive and closed the pleats on both sides of the bag to make the openings smaller for my card panel and gift.

For the card panel I cut a piece of BUMBLEBEE card stock at 3-1/2in by 5in and layered a piece of BASIC WHITE card stock on top measuring 3-1/4in by 4-3/4in.  This panel tucks inside the front cover of the card.  It's a great place to stamp a sentiment or just write a little note.  For the back cover, I created a little gift.  I took two packs of daisy seeds and created a 2in belly band to hold them together.  I added a daisy flower and tucked them into the back cover.  What a fun surprise for the recipient.

For the front cover I used a 2-1/4in BASIC WHITE circle and coordinating BASIC BLACK scallop from the LAYERING CIRCLE DIES.

I wanted to make it a birthday card, so I used the "BIRTHDAYS ARE THE BEST DAYS" sentiment from the BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP stamp set.  I adhered the two pieces together and placed them on the front cover as shown with DIMENSIONALS.  For the flowers, I used my MEDIUM DAISY PUNCH, punching out 6 flower die cuts in order to create 3 daisies.

For the flower centers, I used a 1/2in circle punch and cut three tiny circles out of BUMBLEBEE card stock.  For the leaves, I pulled out my old reliable, PIERCED BLOOMS DIES and used MOSSY MEADOW card stock.  I cut out a variety of shapes and sizes.

After placing the flowers as shown, I adhered a bow using the beautiful BLACK GLITTER RIBBON using GLUE DOTS. The video below shows how the card came together.

IT'S A PUFFIN PARTY!!!!!! TWO UNIQUE GIFT CARD HOLDERS and a TREAT BOX featuring the PARTY PUFFIN STAMP SET

I've always been a push over for cute animal stamp sets and the PARTY PUFFIN Stamp Set caught my eye in the new Annual Catalog.  It's perfect for any celebration projects you may need to create.  I really had fun creating this fold out gift card holder.  The pocket is on the center panel of the fold out.  This card is so festive and the cute little partying puffins make it look adorable.

This stamp set has adorable puffin images and great sentiments for the occasion.

The Designer Series Paper I used is the amazing hostess pack called PATTERN PARTY. The colors are so beautiful and the back sides of the paper give you the black and white option.

Project #1- FUN FOLD GIFT CARD HOLDER

Start with a BERMUDA BAY card base cut at 4-1/4in by 5-1/2in.  Layer a piece of PATTERN PARTY DSP measuring 4in by 5-1/4in on top of the card base.

For the “fold out” piece, use a piece of BERMUDA BAY cut at 9-3/4in by 4-1/4in and scored at 3-1/4in and 6-1/2in.  Adhere the back panel of the “fold out” to a PUMPKIN PIE card panel cut at 3-1/8in by 4in.  Then adhere the entire “fold out” portion to the card base.

For the panels on the “fold out” section, cut DSP at 3-1/2in by 4-1/2in.  Pocket panel for the center panel is a piece of GRANNY APPLE GREEN card cut at 3-1/8in by 2in.  DSP to layer on pocket is 3in by 1-7/8in.  .

To embellish the card, stamp the party hat puffin, the dancing puffin and the birthday cake on a scrap of BASIC WHITE and color using the PUMPKIN PIE, MANGO MELODY, GRANNY APPLE GREEN BERMUDA BAY and POPPY PARADE BLENDS.  Fussy cut these images.  For the front panel, stamp the HAPPY BIRTHDAY image in BERMUDA BAY across the panel as shown.  Die cut a POOL PARTY label die from the STITCHED SO SWEETLY DIES and place it on the front panel using DIMENSIONALS. Adhere the party hat puffin and the cake to the front of the card as shown.  Stamp HAPPY BIRTHDAY image on a 5/8in strip of BASIC WHITE and adhere to the card front using TOMBOW.

For the center panel of the “fold out”, adhere a piece of DSP measuring 3in by 4in. Then adhere the pocket panel to the panel using TEAR & TAPE on three sides.  Using DIMENSIONALS, adhere the dancing puffin to the pocket.  Stamp the YOU’RE THE BEST sentiment using BERMUDA BAY INK on BASIC WHITE card stock, cut it out using a 1in CIRCLE PUNCH and adhere it to the right side of the pocket using DIMENSIONALS.

For the last panel, use a 3in by 4in piece of BASIC WHITE card stock.  Stamp the MAKE A WISH sentiment using BERMUDA BAY INK. In the bottom right-hand corner, stamp the small puffin using MEMENTO INK.  Color the puffin with PUMPKIN PIE and MANGO MELODY BLENDS.   Finally, stamp the fish image on a scrap of BASIC WHITE card stock using MEMENTO INK.  Color using PUMPKIN PIE and REAL RED BLENDS.  Fussy cut the image and adhere it to the fins of the puffin using TOMBOW.

PROJECT #2- PARTY PUFFINS KISSES AND GIFT CARD HOLDER

Start with a piece of GRANNY APPLE GREEN card stock, cut a 6-3/4in by 9-3/4in.  Score on the SHORT side at 1in and 5-3/4in.  On the LONG side, score at 2-3/4in, 5-1/4in, 6-1/4in, 7-1/4in, 8-1/4in and 9-1/4in.  Below is a picture of the template after cutting.

Cut two strips of DSP at 7/8in by 4-5/8in and adhere them to the first two box panels.  Using the STITCHED RECTANGLES DIES, cut a window in the center of the second panel.  Before assembling the box, adhere a 4-5/8in by 2-1/2in piece of DSP on the largest panel.  On the back of the smaller panel, adhere a 4-5/8in by 2-3/8in piece of BASIC WHITE card stock with a 5/8in strip of DSP along the bottom and the HAPPY BIRTHDAY sentiment stamped in MEMENTO BLACK INK.  Assemble the box by placing TEAR & TAPE on the thin panel, fold in the large panel (don’t forget to put a piece of TEAR & TAPE on the inside left of the panel to form the pocket for the gift card). Using a 1-3/8in CIRCLE PUNCH create a notch on the right side of the panel to allow for easy removal of the gift card by the recipient.

To embellish the front, die cut a PUMPKIN PIE scalloped rectangle die from the STITCHED SO SWEETLY DIES and adhere it to the front of the gift card panel.  Stamp a dancing puffin and a cake on a scrap of BASIC WHITE card stock using MEMENTO INK.  Color the images using the PUMPKIN PIE, MANGO MELODY, POOL PARTY, GRANNY APPLE GREEN and FLIRTY FLAMINGO BLENDS. Fussy cut the images and place them on the front using DIMENSIONALS.  Stamp the MAKE A WISH! sentiment on a 1/2in strip of PALE PAPAYA using MEMENTO BLACK INK.  Adhere the banner to the top left corner with DIMENSIONALS.

To place the kisses in the box, adhere them to a strip of GRANNY APPLE GREEN card stock cut at 7/8in by 4-5/8in using TEAR & TAPE.  Slide the strip into the box and adhere the end flaps to close.

Start with a piece of POOL PARTY card stock cut at 8in by 5in. Score the SHORT side at 1in on both ends.  On the LONG side, score at 1in, 3-1/2in, 4-1/2in and 7in.  Crease all the score lines using a BONE FOLDER and cut the card stock like the template pictured below.

Using TOMBOW, put glue on all the flaps and assemble the box.  Use a 1in CIRCLE PUNCH to place a notch on the front panel. Adhere a piece of DSP to the top of the box cut at 2-7/8in by 2-3/8in.

To embellish the box, start with a MANGO MELODY label die cut using the STITCHED SO SWEETLY DIES.  Adhere that to the top of the box.  On a scrap of BASIC WHITE card stock, stamp the dancing puffin and the cake image in MEMENTO BLACK INK.  Color the images using the MANGO MELODY, PUMPKIN PIE, POOL PARTY, GRANNY APPLE GREEN and POPPY PARADE BLENDS.  Fussy cut those images and adhere them to the box using DIMENSIONALS.  Finally, stamp the HAPPY BIRTHDAY sentiment on a 1/2in strip of FLIRTY FLAMINGO and adhere it to the box.

IT'S A PUFFIN PARTY!!! MAKE THIS ADORABLE EASEL CARD/TREAT BOX featuring the PARTY PUFFINS STAMP SET

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY STAMPERS!!  I'm writing this blog post on Monday morning, taking time to think about and honor those brave men and women who gave their lives so we can live in a free country. My dad was an army medic and was so proud of the time he served.

For my project this week, I picked one of the cutest stamp sets in the new catalog.  PARTY PUFFINS is a cling stamp set with adorable puffin images and great party sentiments.

I got my inspiration from Angie at CHIC N SCRATCH.  She made a cute little box with a pull out drawer.  I added the easel card feature to the top to make the box extra amazing.

The Designer Series Paper I used for the box is called PATTERN PARTY.  It's a Hostess Rewards selection.  You get 48 pieces of 12 by 12 paper for only $18.  The patterns are so versatile and can be used for any occasion.

Let's make the treat box and drawer portion first.  Start with a piece of POOL PARTY card stock cut at 5-5/8in by 6in.  Score at 1-1/2in on all four sides.  Crease the score lines and using a PAPER SNIPS, cut out and angle in the corners of the four flaps.  Adhere to form the basic box.  Adhere a piece of the designer series paper cut at 2-1/2in by 1-3/8in on the front side.  This will be the drawer that slides in to the next piece.

Using another piece of POOL PARTY card stock cut at 3-1/8in by 9-1/2in and scored on the LONG SIDE at 1in, 3-3/4in, 5-1/4in and 8in. Crease on the score lines, put adhesive on the 1in panel and adhere it together.  Then adhere two pieces of the DSP cut at 1-1/4in by 2-7/8in to the sides of the sleeve.  Slide the drawer inside.

Next we will be assembling the easel section.  You will need a strip of POOL PARTY card stock cut at 2-1/2in by 9in, scored on the LONG side at 3in, 4-1/2in, 6in. Before adhering to the box, put two pieces on DSP on the large panels measuring 2-3/8in by 2-7/8in.

Connect the easel section to the box by adhering one of the large panels to the top of the box. Be sure to center it.  Extend the easel and put adhesive on the back side of the second small panel.  Close the easel on top of the box and that panel will adhere to the bottom part of the last large panel forming the easel.

Now it's time to embellish.  Adhere a 2in circle of SO SAFFRON card stock to the top panel.  Stamp the puffin image on a scrap piece of BASIC WHITE card stock and color the beak using PUMPKIN PIE and MANGO MELODY BLENDS. Fussy cut the image and adhere it to the center of the circle using DIMENSIONALS. Stamp your sentiment on a 5/8in strip of BASIC WHITE and flag the end.  Cut a 1/2in strip of POLISHED PINK, flag one end and adhere it to the back side of the sentiment strip. Adhere it to the bottom of the panel using DIMENSIONALS.

To make the stopper, stamp the sentiment on a scrap of BASIC WHITE card stock and punch it out with a 1in CIRCLE PUNCH.  Stamp the fish image, color it with PUMPKIN PIE and REAL RED BLENDS, fussy cut it and adhere it to the circle.  Then take that circle and adhere it using DIMENSIONALS to the panel attached to the box in a position that props up the embellished panel.

Here is a picture of the project with the easel in the closed position.

The video below shows how the project came together.

PEEK A BOO GIFT BAG featuring the PATTERN PARTY DSP and the PIERCED BLOOMS DIES

Hey Stampers!!  Just wanted to let you know about a HIDDEN GEM in the new Annual Catalog.  It's the PATTERN PARTY  Designer Series Paper.  It's amazing.  It's in the back of the catalog in the HOST & EARN section.  If you have a party or an individual order of $150 or more, you can pick up this pack of 42 sheets of beautiful DSP for only $18.  There are 12 designs in the stack.

I was inspired to make these bags after watching a video by POOTLES.  I then wanted to take it a step further and make one bag with the card stock on the front and one with the DSP on the front.

To decorate the bags, I used a favorite die set of mine- PIERCED BLOOMS.

Start with a piece of GRANNY APPLE GREEN card stock, cut at 4in by 11in.  Score on the LONG side at 4-1/2in and 6-1/2in. For the sides, cut two pieces of DSP at 5in by 3in, scoring on three sides at 1/2in (DO NOT score on the short side that will be at the top of the bag).  The video below shows how the bag comes together.  At the end of the video, I give tips about how to make the same bag with DSP on the front and card stock on the sides.

For the embellishments on the front of the bag, I used a BASIC WHITE card stock label from the PIERCED BLOOMS DIES.  The sentiment is stamped in MEMENTO BLACK using the FRIENDS ARE LIKE SEASHELLS stamp set.  Love the font.

I then used BALMY BLUE, DAFFODIL DELIGHT and POLISHED PINK card stock and die cut one of each color of the tiny flower.  I then used MOSSY MEADOW card stock for the leaves.  The centers of the flowers are the PLAYING WITH PATTERNS RESIN DOTS.  So cute.  If you are inspired to make this project, click below for a PDF Tutorial.

Thanks for dropping by.  I have a few more fun projects planned using this amazing DSP pack.  If you have any questions about this or any other project on my blog, email me at blreed@comcast.net.

Happy Stamping,
